Self Care Catalysts Joins The Fields Institute As A New Corporate Affiliate

Self Care Catalysts is pleased to announce that they have signed an agreement to become a corporate affiliate of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences. The two institutions are exploring research collaborations to advance the understanding of human health behavior. This mutually beneficial agreement brings together the multi-disciplinary expertise and analytical firepower at the Fields Institute with Self Care Catalysts’ unique real-world data reported directly by patients in real-time.

Self Care Catalysts has an expanding data set acquired through Health Storylines, a self-care and disease management tool that offers a unique perspective on the health experiences of thousands of patients. The anonymized and aggregated data allows Self Care Catalysts to identify the unmet needs of patients and better understand their quality of life based on the insight that the majority of care happens outside the realm of the healthcare system. This information is used by healthcare stakeholders to make better decisions about topics ranging from patient care, drug development, clinical trial protocol development, regulatory decisions and more.

The Fields Institute supports basic research and collaboration between mathematicians and those applying mathematics in areas such as engineering, the physical and biological sciences, medicine, economics and finance, telecommunications and information systems. The Fields Institute also offers Corporate Affiliates access to a pool of mathematicians and scientists who assist with formulating and solving industrial problems. As a Corporate Affiliate of Fields, Self Care Catalysts will be involved in the development of research and other activities including seminar series and problem-solving workshops engaging talented undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and senior scientists associated with the Institute.

This is an unprecedented opportunity to potentially impact and decode the complexity of the healthcare industry in a manner that puts patients first by unlocking the power of their data.

Grace Soyao, Founder and CEO of Self Care Catalysts says:

“We at Self Care Catalysts are thrilled to partner with the Fields Institute to connect their expertise at the cutting edge of mathematics and computer science with our unique patient perspective. Together, we will analyze the compelling combination of quantitative and qualitative data that patients share with us, by combining mathematical and social sciences in a powerful new way. We look forward to enhancing our existing use of NLP and incorporating more AI and advanced analytics into the Health Storylines platform to tackle our essential mandate of improving health outcomes.”

Huaxiong Huang, Deputy Director of the Fields Institute says:

“Fields supports mathematical research and application of mathematics in modern society. We are pleased that Self Care Catalysts has joined Fields’ family and we look forward to developing collaborations that connect high level research with real-world data and potential to impact the way patients experience healthcare.”
